Aim: to examine based on archival sources public, academic and managerial activities of the Ukrainian historian Mykola Andrusiak (1902–1985) in the context of social, political and cultural processes of the 20th century; to establish his contribution into research of Ukrainian history, activities of the Shevchenko Scientific Society, the Polish Historical Society, the Institute of History of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Historical Society.
The author offers a pioneer research into public, academic, and research activities of a talented Ukrainian historian Mykola Andrusiak. The monograph identifies influences of family, milieu and colleagues on the outlook of the researcher. It detects and analyses the main directions of academic activities of the historian and establishes priorities of his research activities. It characterizes contribution of Mykola Andrusiak into study of the Ukrainian Church, Cossacks, national and cultural revival in Galicia in the late 19th – early 20th century, historiography, and local history studies. The monograph introduces into academic circulation previously unpublished academic works of Mykola Andrusiak. Bibliography of the historian’s publication is included and pseudonyms and cryptonyms used by Andrusiak are deciphered.
